Xanadu XP, formerly known as EZSurfer, operates like an online web portal (Yahoo, Excite etc.) and provides you with a wide variety of links and services within your browser window. Unlike traditional portals, much of the content is stored on your hard drive, ensuring it is always available.
Designed to act as a homepage, Xanadu XP features regularly updated sections, such as news, email and chat. These are all provided by third parties and so rely on an active internet connection to be displayed.
Its main function is to provide assistance to individuals new to the web, providing them with a wide range of links and services, including multiple daily news feeds, various search facilities, online email via mailstart.com, built-in games and more.
Clearly labelled drop-down menus provide quick links to a variety of websites, organised into categories such as Movies, News, Downloads and Shopping.
The majority of links are to big-name sites such as msn.com, Amazon.com and Rollingstone.com, although there are a small selection of unusual sites to arouse interest.
If you really don't know where to go or what to look at, then Xanadu XP could be of some help, providing you with a good starting point. However, once internet experience increases, it becomes less and less useful other than for its news feeds.
