An unrivalled overclocking competition – can you say over 1600L of LN2?

Now, I’m sure you’ve heard of overclocking. And you’ve probably also heard of Gigabyte. So when Gigabyte decided to hold an overclocking comp, you’re probably a little bit excited – and with good reason.

A total of 48 competitors from all over the world were flown to Taipei to compete against each other in a series of benchmarks. Here is a literal wall-full of them:

Australia was represented by Dinos22 and Deanzo (though Deanzo hails from New Zealand, we managed to confuse him just long enough to agree to compete for us). After a first night’s introduction, where we found out some info on UD3, the wake-up call was set at 6AM. Each team slammed down a quick breakfast, and then headed into the ballroom of the Grand Hyatt Taipei for preparations from 7:30 onwards.

Each competing team was supplied with the following gear:

Gigabyte EP45T-Extreme Motherboard
Corsair Dominator DDR3-1800MHz memory
Gigabyte HD4870 (Reference design)
Intel QX9650 CPU
Gigabyte ODIN PRO 1200W PSU
Western Digital Velociraptor HDD
A Viewsonic 19in VX1962wm monitor

Damn, i am a complete newbie when it comes to LN2, it would be great to get some experience with it. Voltmodding is something i am scared of but i want to try.

It Would be fantastic to just spend 1 day with these guys/girls and try to learn some of their techniques. it would really be awesome!

Bad luck to the Aussie team :( next time!!

I like that first chicky babe!

Sounds like it was fun Frunj.... What did Gigabyte talk about, or are you not at liberty to divulge that information?

Most of what Gigabyte talked about was mentioned in the article, and in the UD3 one :)

smakme7757 - that's exactly what I did!

The first chicky babe is a bit squished!

How did the Turkish team fare?

That chicky babe was shot (not photographed >.>) in portrait, which our gallery decided to expand.

And the Turkish team didn't do amazingly, they returned a single result in the first test, and couldn't get their gear working in time to make any of the other tests.
