Atomic hosts a night of zombie-killing goodness.
To say we're pretty experienced at hosting LANs at Atomic HQ is a relative understatement - but each time we like to mix it up a bit and give something unique. When we learned that Left 4 Dead 2 was coming pretty darn quickly we knew we had to grab some copies.
Developed by Valve and distributed online via their Steam service (though also distributed in physical form by Electronic Arts), the aim of the game is to form a group of four 'survivors' against the zombie hordes. We grabbed 24 Atomicans and formed them into six teams of survivors, pitting them against the first chapter in the game, Hard Rain. They were also thrown onto Realism mode - if one of the team die, they don't get a respawn.
Ultimately the winning team was the one that could survive the longest against increasingly desperate brain-loving zombies, and the winning performance was delivered by Team Tank. They scored a full copy of the game courtesy of Electronic Arts for their prowess, gaining the awe of the competitors in the process.
We also had Atomicans dress up as survivors of the zombie apocalypse, with some very inventive costumes scoring two lucky people a copy of the game. On top of all the free gameage, we also had beer and pizza.
Thanks to all the Atomicans who made it on the night, and a huge thanks to Electronic Arts for helping out with the prizes!
