Preview: Guitar Hero 2

Gamers gathered in their masses… *DAH-NA!* Just like witches at black masses… *DAH-NA!*

Don’t act as though you’ve never waited patiently in line at a PS2 demo stand waiting to show the kids who surround you (and whom are half your height) who’s boss at Guitar Hero. You can admit it, and that’s okay, because everybody’s guilty of it.

The original made Dance Dance Revolution themed games rock harder than they ought to, and Guitar Hero 2 should closer resemble a multi-track recording studio than the original. This is because you can play Lead, Rhythm or Bass tracks in the gameplay modes, which include versus, survival, co-op and handicapped multiplayer modes along with a more robust career mode.

We know what some, but not all, of the included songs are. That list is below. Although there will be more between now and Guitar Hero 2’s release, some of the current highlights for us are Black Sabbath, Van Halen, Rush, Primus, KISS, Nirvana and The Rolling Stones. And we didn’t get to mention Anthrax or Guns N’ Roses. Oh, wait.

Beast and the Harlot - Avenged Sevenfold
Can’t You Hear Me Knocking - Rolling Stones
Crazy on You - Heart
Heart Shaped Box - Nirvana
Jessica - Allman Brothers
Laid to Rest - Lamb of God
Message in a Bottle – Police
Misirlou - Dick Dale
Surrender - Cheap Trick
Tattooed Love Boys - Pretenders
Them Bones - Alice in Chains
Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight - Spinal Tap
John the Fisherman – Primus original master recording
Psychobilly Freakout - Reverend Horton Heat
Strutter - KISS
War Pigs – Black Sabbath
Who Was in My Room Last Night? – Butthole Surfers
You Really Got Me – Van Halen
YYZ - Rush
Madhouse – Anthrax
Shout at the Devil – Motley Crew
Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart – Stone Temple Pilots
Freebird – Lynard Skynard
Sweet Child O’ Mine – Guns N’ Roses

Oh yeah.
