Recycle your old PC

Don't poison the Earth by dumping your old PC - recycle it. Here's how to do it the free and easy way.

Old PCs, monitors, keyboards, printers and mice should be recycled responsibly. Just dumping them puts even more poisons into landfill, and it's about time we showed more respect for good old Mother Earth.

Dell has been touring with a recycling roadshow and this weekend in Melbourne you can dump any old computer gear. It doesn't have to be a Dell PC, and it's free.

It's at the University of Melbourne's Parkville Campus between 9am and 3pm. You can drop off up to three PCs (of any brand) plus monitor, printer, keyboard or mouse, for free recycling.

Perth is next, where Dell will be at Murdoch University on November 25.

In US last week Dell started offering free recycling of Dell-branded products to consumers -- and will have this in Australia too (and New Zealand) this year.

At the same time Dell will also offer free recycling of any brand with purchase offer to all capital cities too (its currently Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane only).

If you don't own or buy a Dell PC and don't live in a capital city there's still the paid recycling service, which will cost you around $37, including pick-up of the PC from your door.

Three years after launching it, Dell is still the only PC vendor to offer recycling options for Australian consumers. We wish more companies would embrace the importance of green computing, and we hope that you, as consumers and responsible citizens, will support this important initiative.
