101 Ways to Hack your PC

Optimise, damn it! Atomic's definitive guide of the most ultimate tweaks, hints and performance tips.

You know how you’re told to format and reinstall Windows every couple of months because that’s the thing to do? That’s a tweak, of sorts. True, it’s probably the most drastic tweak you can do, but it gets the job done. Everything runs better, those annoying pop-ups go away, and it clears all traces of porn from the ever-wary girlfriend.

The purpose of this guide is to take our combined Atomic knowledge on tweaking PCs, be it for extra performance, cleaner running, automation, scripting – whatever – and provide them all, to you, in a nice, compact format so you can start optimising your computer, right now. Each one of these tips is distinctly Atomic, which means they’re the best. Plus, we’ve polished them to a fine shine... but not so fine a shine that they’ll blind you. Except with their brilliance, which is blinding.

Disclaimer: It's not our fault if you muck something up and explode your PC. We will not buy you a new one, we will not pay your hospital bills, we may send flowers to your funeral, we will certainly comfort your wife/girlfriend after your demise.

cleaning a PC with a vacuum cleaner is a BIG no-no - the vacuum cleaner is one of the best static-electricity generators available! a wrist strap, or hanging on to the chassis won't save you.....your PC will develop some insidious fault, that of course only happens intermittently......
