Another week, another bunch of new coolness on Atomic!
Today we launch two more Atomic site features for you! Both these go live later today, around 4-5pm AEST.
Direct Deals forum
This is a very special forum that sits alongside
Trademart
, where retailers can make special offers to you. It compliments Trademart perfectly, being a place where shops that want to get in amongst the community and share special deals just for you can do it.
It could be a special discount on a hot item.
It could be a hot bundle deal.
It could be a clearance of the last few items in stock at a very hot price just for you.
It could be anything at all that a shop would want to offer straight to you as an atomican-only special deal!
The Atomic forums have always attracted all kinds from every corner, and that includes loads of retail people. As you know we’ve never allowed commercial posts on the forums – but we also know that the shops want to talk to you directly and offer special stuff, just for Atomicans.
So we created
Direct Deals
just for this.
The way it works:
Anyone from a shop that's signed up to
Direct Deals
can post a new thread with an offer, and you can reply in that thread with any questions or comments. You can’t make threads yourself, that’s for the shops only, to keep it clean and easy for everybody.
It’s a great way for the retailers to get to know you, and what you like best, and, to give it to you.
We only ask one thing – that you respect that the shop has taken the time to make a deal for you, to post here and get in amongst the forums answering your questions.
Please don’t post if you’ve found some better offer somewhere else. There will always be something cheaper somewhere. Direct Deals aims to give you the best possible price, but equally, to help build a relationship between you and the people at the shop.
These aren’t regular ads – this is for shops that know Atomic to reach out and talk in real world talk, to you.
Please remember that there are people behind the shop names making a big effort to give you something you can’t get anywhere else. It’s direct, and it’s a deal.
It’ll probably start off slowly and pick up. We’ve got half a dozen retailers on board for launch. Make them feel welcome please atomicans, they’re part of the community, helping you with gear at good prices. You can only win!
If you run or work at a shop and would like to be a part of Direct Deals, please contact
John Kovasevic
.
PM address book and user directory
Never go searching for your mates again! Now, with our handy dandy user directory you can super-quickly find any atomican that’s ever been here.
You can access their details and PM them quick and easy. Better still – add your favourite atomicans to the new PM Address Book! Do that from the user’s details screen, and access it by clicking on ‘
Address Book
’ top right on the forum screen.
2.6 – lock it in
And that, folks, rounds up our 2.6 upgrade bonanza. While we love your ideas for more cool stuff, or fine-tuning our existing features, that’s it for now. This locks the site in for the next few months, so please hold back on suggestions for now, as we hate saying "no".
Thanks to the dev team – Dan – for finding the time in his world of chaos to gift us these toys.
What we have is what we’ve got, and it is good!
