Overclocking Adventures: Dry Ice Party

Overclocking Adventures: Dry Ice Party

The Atomic Overclocking madness – 8kg of dry ice, excessive amounts of hardware, 1 day of insanity.

So here I am. The new Atomic Tech Writer - absolutely stoked and honoured to be given such an opportunity. It was time to do my thing and represent.

Sitting around the office stressing about the forthcoming deadline (we hope you like issue #79 as much as we do!), we wondered what some of the office Core 2 Duo’s were capable of – as well as my golden E6700 gem!

It was on! We knew exactly what had to happen. These processors had to get cold. Not just cool ambient cold. Not just water cooled cold. We’re talking, the full blown, sub-ambient, sub-zero, frozen cold!

Enter stage left: Dry Ice.

The timing of this thinking was perfect. Only two days prior, to having the frozen urge, I’d taken delivery of my own piece of cylindrical copper lovin’. Fifty millimeters in diameter and about thirty centimeters tall, it was custom built to take an injection of frozen goods – for this round, that’ll be dry ice! Props go out to Kayl Hosken for designing such a beautiful piece of copper crafted cooling joy, cheers mate.
