February, 2009
A brand new and extra-shiny issue of Atomic is out on the stands, and it’s packed with stuff!
Our cover is all about sleek and sexy gaming laptops, and we’ve got five of the best going head to head. Can a mobile machine handle modern games? Is a laptop the future of gaming? Read our group test and find out.
If that’s not enough gaming we’ve also got a report from Europe and the World CyberGames – where an aussie team showed their skills and surprised more than a few of the world’s gaming elite. We had a reporter embedded during their campaign, and he’s scooped all the action. There’s also a preview of Empire: Total War, and the offer of an exclusive unit that Atomic readers can use in their own efforts at nineteenth century global domination.
On to hardware and we’ve got AMD’s new Phenom II – is it time for the fans to rejoice? We’ll let you know. Also on test are a mess of graphics cards, coolers, RAM kits and more. We’ve packed a lot of tech into this issue!
Finally, we’ve got some killer tutorials. Jake Carroll finishes up his excellent NAS piece, and Ron Prouse gets back to some serious modding with an easy guide to adding a case window to show off your gear.
It’s a great issue – enjoy!
IN THIS ISSUE:
X-Ray
File Compression – how and why.
Feature: Rise of the Machines
Artificial Intelligence examined.
