Steam's apathy toward the Rest of World

Last week, you may have read this angry rant about EB Games and its trade in practices.

I didn't actually want to write that. Well, I did, but not at that moment in time. I'd planned to write about the steam group Rest of World (which everybody should join right now), with a side order of digital distribution and the terrible state it's in here in Australia.

But there was (and is) so much to cover: price variations, release dates, availability, and so very much more. All it took was a lunchtime trip to EB to get me sidetracked.

That opinion piece was sparked by a conversation I'd had earlier with Craig Simms about digital distribution, the global economy and why Valve appears to be ignoring everywhere on earth bar the US.

And since then, Craig has put up a nice piece on the problem. It's a good read. I recommend it.
