Sony builds new PS3 controller

It breaks into two parts and has motion sensing. Did someone say hello Wii?

Sony has designed a new PS3 controller that is designed to break.

The new controller, which is supposed to be the answer to the Wii, is designed to 'break apart' into two individual units that have remote-like motion-sensing functionality.

Working units have apparently been delivered to development partners but no one has mentioned when it will be in shops, and Sony is not saying anything.

This means that man plus dog in the blog sphere has been speculating on what it will look like. Kotaku said that the controller will have a small device that attaches in the body which can be worn

The big idea is that you can stick them on the hands to move a character's hands in-game or four on the hands and feet.

However there seems to be a bit of a dispute going on in the blog sphere over whether or not the controller can merge into a single controller.

So far the PS3's Sixaxis controller is the only thing that has motion-sensing functionality and it is only a shadow of what Nintendo's Wii Remote and nunchuck controller can manage.
