Blizzcon 2009 date announced
Reports from the ground zero of gamer heaven.
11.30am: Mike Morhaime, co-founder and Blizzard CEO has just opened BlizzCon 2008 to the expected applause and American-style shouting. There's a lot happening at this year's festival of all things Blizzard including playable pre-release versions of each franchise. This is the first BlizzCon to feature all three universes; Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo.
We've just been treated to the Wrath of the Lich King opening cinematic on a really big screen and a cinematic introducing the latest playable class for Diablo III: the Wizard (which looks like a lot of fun if you like a bit of pewpew).
In StarCraft II news; Morhaime announced that the next installment will have a beta testing phase which is open to the public - with beta keys included in the BlizzCon '08 goodie bag. So, if you'll excuse me I'm off to track that down.
Later today we'll be getting the lowdown from developers in the StarCraft II Gameplay panel and the Diablo II Class Discussion.
