Youtube offers full-length video

Essential viewing... for Star Trek fans. And there's nothing wrong with Star Trek fans.

YouTube has announced the addition of full-length programmes to its video sharing site for all of you out there who aren't satisfied by the snippets of teenagers beating each other to a pulp it currently offers.

The ever popular Google-owned clip-sharing and copyright infringing site unveiled a new 'theatre view' format last week which will be home to full-length programmes including Star Trek (yay!), MacGyver (uh... kinda yay) and Beverly Hills 90210 (um. yeah). Essential viewing for all, then.

A spokesperson said, "We are starting to test full-length programming, beginning with some fan favorites requested by you - the viewer. Our new full-length format, in conjunction with the launch of our new player, marks an exciting milestone as we continue our efforts to expand user choice and improve viewer experience."

Youtube has gone the whole hog with this new feature, with virtual red curtains and an enlarged screen replicating the cinematic experience, albeit on a tiny screen in your bedroom.

Google has also added a 'screening room' this year as part of an effort to make more money without upsetting and thus losing loyal customers to rival sites.

These new applications ensure more options for Google's partners' advertising - yet this could be annoying for viewers as the company is expected to embed advertising in its full-length shows.

Quote "Beverly Hills 90210 (um. yeah)." if 90210 was a person he would have been assassinated by every sane person in the world who has accidently switched programmes on tv and it should never be put online for the whole world to see.

but star trek is awesome yeah inviseble hi-five for all the MLV converters for youtube. YAY
