We just got in preview code for one of the most anticipated games of the year - Operation Flashpoint. Imagine Counterstrike, with an added flight sim, helicopter sim, and tank sim, with up to sixty people playing online at once, each leading a squad of infantry, tank squadron, or flight of Apaches, over beautifully rendered terrain that you can see all the way to the horizon. Are you beginning to get excited?

Sadly, the preview code is limited to less than a dozen stand-alone battles - no multiplayer or campaign play as yet - but even that sneak peak has gotten everyone in the office already talking about being the first to form an Operation Flashpoint clan. Sadly, the discs came in too late for Issue 2 of Atomic, but you can check out John Gillooly's full rant in Issue 3. And trust me, from what I've already played, this game will be big.

And while we haven't even seen code for it yet, EA's upcoming conspiracy title Majestic recently had its Web site go live. This one's harder to pigeon-hole than even Operation Flashpoint. Think of the X Files, and then think of actually living that kinda plot - Majestic will interact with you not just through your computer, but through phone calls and faxes, as well as emails, Web sites, and online chat. Sounds like a great way to annoy your flatmates.
