The SETI@home project, while not successful in finding any alien life, has at least been successful in gathering a massive amount of computer resources all over the world. Millions of people have downloaded the SET screensaver, and are patiently waiting for alien life, but soon Oxford University will be launching a similar operation to enlist computer users in the search for cancer-fighting drugs.

By downloading the analytical software, users can dedicate their spare clock-cycles to test different chemicals for use in cancer research. United Devices, Intel, and the US National Foundation for Cancer Research are also partners in the operation, and the site to download the software is live as we speak.
