Everyone knows, and our extensive research right here (one amusing poll can't be wrong), most gamers vastly prefer AMD chips. They're cheaper, faster and generally more overclockable than Intel's more well established CPUs. Well, now Intel has had a long think about it and decided that it wants to be down wit' da 1337 gamin' crew.

Amidst a posse of execs wearing baggy jeans and toting cans of jolt, Intel announced that it is proudly sponsoring the Cyberathlete's Professional League in the States, and possibly in Europe as well. It is also sponsoring some smaller LAN events in the UK. Here in Australia Intel sponsored the recent Fragzone event, and is likely looking at more such events to get 'jiggy' with.

Is it too little too late to woo the gaming market? Will we see Intel releasing eminently overclockable CPUs like AMD's recent release? Who knows. But the processor wars are certainly far from over.
