And so do we. Yesterday, as I said earlier, we at atomic were lucky enough to have a play with a more or less full build of Operation Flashpoint. The game really is quite spiffing - good graphics, excellent playability, and thanks to the wide range of vehicles to gad about in, endless surprise potential.

Our first experience was a little co-op match against the AI. We brave NATO souls had to secure a village from evil Ruskies, and so our five valiant warriors - me, Ashok, John, Ben and Bennett - wandered through some tree cover and sighted some bad guys. And died, real fast. The AI is tight, running to cover, providing suppressive fire until everyone was in position, and then riddling our position with gunfire. Humbled, we tried again, and this time got all the way into the village, killing some Russian infantry before a truck hove into view with reinforcements. Then John decided that the old farming tractor offered the best anti-infantry support and fired it up, roaring about the village like a mad goat herder on crack-cocaine. We saw other impressive things too - Russian Hind helicopters strafing truck convoys, massive infantry attacks, tank combat, you name it, it's all there.

We died again - mostly shot by a rather trigger happy Bennett, but boy is that one hell of a game. Then it was time for the paintballing. We had a team of atomic and related freelancers vs pretty much everyone else, and we were about as 1337 a bunch of point warriors as you could hope for. Bennett was a scrappy attacker, John provided pinpoint cover fire, Ben was an inspiration to us all and Ashok was the best point man that any unit could hope for. All in all it was a great day for everyone, and I think we can all agree that PR was the winner.

And atomic, of course ;-)
