Napster keeps on fighting

That plucky Shawn Fanning, the dude who created Napster, and his pals are still plugging away at their dying music distribution service. Despite last week losing their appeal against court injunctions restricting Napster's service, the company has just signed a deal with numerous UK and European Independent labels to offer bands such as Moby and Underworld to subscribers.

No figures have been released to the press on how much the deal is worth, but both sides - Napster on one, and the the UK's Association of Independent Music and the Independent Music Companies Association on the other - seem happy. This deal also comes on the back of a deal a few weeks ago with BMG, AMI and AOL Time Warner. Interestingly, they are three of the companies currently fighting Napster in the Courts - perhaps they wish to sue their cake, and eat it too.
