It's early in the morning, you're stuck in traffic, and you just know that you're going to be late to work. The rage builds, your teeth begin to grind, and you just wanna make someone pay. Thankfully, most of us do not have access to military-grade technology like the oddly-named SmarTruck. Of course, if we all did, the roads may well be a calmer place.

The SmarTruck is a testbed for new military technologies that the US will be integrating into its Light Tactical Vehicles - things like HumVees and so on. The thing is, from the outside, all you've got is an average looking Ford pick-up. Inside, however, the car is packed to the gills with advanced computer technology, armour, defensive counter-measures, and even weapons systems.

This baby's got advanced video systems (for night vision viewing and DVD watching - don't want those soldiers getting bored now, do we?), a wide range of countermeasures (including bright lights to dazzle evil-doers, explosion suppression systems, electric door handles (in a bad, hurty way), oil and tack dispensers (Car Wars, anyone?), and bulletproof glass), internal touch-screen displays, a four-wheel steering system, a GPS capable Windows CE PC, fingerprint ID scanners, and, last, but most certainly not least, ICRC Remote Control Weapon Station. At the flick of the switch one of the rear passenger seats moves to the center of the vehicle, a weapon pops out of the top of the car, and five cameras really the carnage to the soldier inside, who can kill political insurgents while safely watching Gladiator on DVD.

War is hell, isn't it? Check it out for yourself.
