Radio, the telephone, the electric light bulb, hell, even Two-in-One Pert Shampoo and Conditioner are the kind of epoch-shattering inventions I'm talking about, and humble man from Melbourne, in our very own wide, sun burnt land of Australia, and he calls it… The Wheel!

The Federal government made some sweeping changes to the way the Australian patent office is run in May, and this includes making it much easier for just about anyone to make a spurious patent claim - like the Melbourne wit in question. Of course, claimants must be able to back up their claim that they are the soul inventor of any given device or method, but patent lawyer John Keogh put the claim through regardless to illustrate the implausibility of the new system.
