We're not saying that GTA IV is a shocker on PC... as such...

And this is what every other cut scene looks like... When it's not chugging along like a... well, like some kind of game that chugs. On a 4870X2.

...
They took how long to port it?
And what did they do in that time? Snigger and giggle and plot how to make it run like a turd with it's legs cut off?

It doesn't do that missing head thing after a few minutes of gameplay or further into the game. On a 4870x2.
Don't quote me on it either, but I have seen the headless cinematic bug appear on a 360 version of the game once before.
It's not horrid, but it could be better.

Poor Port. Bugs bugs and more bugs. This is shocking Rockstar.

I love GTA. And GTA4 is no exception but its a shame it wasn't made as a PC Game then ported to Console, instead of the other way around. I hate LIVE and my windows start up being clogged with all that crap on booting Windows. I only put up with it because GTA is such a good game, anything else would have recieved an imediate Uninstall and resulted in me snapping the DVD disk in 2.
I have to say on my E6850,320mb 8800GTS,2gigs of ram and XP 32bit at 1024x768 the game runs neerly flawlessly for me and is very playable and enjoyable. My mate has a E8500, 4870, 4gigs and Vista 64bit and he cant even play the game with out it crashing , even crashing on the loading screen.

1024x768?!?! I'd rather the game crash and get ~25fps @ 1600x1200 than run it at that res. Each to their own...

1024x768? That was great back in Half-Life days.
Just another reason to ditch PC gaming in favor of the consoles, bit by bit they are winning the battle.

Here's the really weird thing:
On my computer, (EP35-DS3P, 8800GT(512), E4400@3.2, 4GB(800), Vista 64) it runs fine, no glitches, frame rate "acceptable" - not dipping below 20 often, usually mid 30s. Not great, but usable. Same game, in a friend's identical computer (except with a Q6600@3.2), and the bloody thing struggles to get into the teens/20s. As a test we stuck my hd in his case and booted from it, still runs like crap.
So wtf? Two extra cores and it goes south? We even put the memory timings to default on both computers, made no difference at all.
