Of course, Linux zealots have known about this advantage for quite a while – the low Total Cost of Ownership inherent in Linux (and Open Source in general) based systems has long been touted one of the major advantages Linux can offer to business.

According to ZDNet, a 1000 user Linux server has around half the costs associated with an equivalent server running a commercial Unix OS.
