NVIDIA spins the web with its latest graphics card release.
ONCE AGAIN the Chinese beat world+dog to the prize. The
IT168.com site
was showing off the benchmarks for the unreleased Geforce GTX 295 late last night, but the whole site has since collapsed under the weight of fanboi rush hour.
TechpowerUp managed to grab the pics before they went under.
A word to the wise, the benchmarks don't look like independent lab tests but rather the kind of marketing show that company's put on for partners and media, pre-launch. So we'd take these numbers with a huge grain of salt. There are PhysX (whaaa?), power consumption and those famous "Top 5" game tests from Nvidia's vault.
So what do the numbers show? The Geforce GTX 295 bloodying ATI's nose somewhat, delivering as far as 100 per cent more performance in
Dead Space
or as little as some 15 per cent in
Far Cry 2
. Of course there's little to no detail on configs and drivers. We'd also like to understand what kind of PhysX benchmarking went on here, as ATI officially doesn't do PhysX. In power terms, we somehow find it hard to believe a dual PCB configuration with two 1.4 billion-tranny GPUs on them will draw less power than an HD 4870 X2... but if it does. Wow.
In the end, will these numbers make enthusiasts refrain from blowing their Christmas wad until the card reaches the market?
Not likely.

"weight of fanboi rush hour" WTF?
"1.4 billion-tranny GPUs" WTF?
It just sounds so very, very try hard >_<

let them have their fun lol, doesn't mean the card will perform anywhere near the claimed levels. expect it to be around the speed of 2 overclocked gtx280's in sli.

There is some guy from The Inquirer who dislikes nVidia entirely... and he is an absolute fuckhead.
I would like to see his articles screened from Atomic... before he drags his fud mud onto our clean and lovely black and green decor.

I'm not drawing any conclusions yet but I don't see why they would show PhysX on an Nvidia card vs an ATi card when its clearly not an apples-to-apples test. A bit unfair there.

Whats the dealeo with Atomicmpc copying word for word all decent news form the inquirer? Also as Sceptre points out it kinda brings this whole smell a bit with his sarcasm.
Come on guys, it's not like you're doing this site in your spare time. It's your job. Stop stealing other peoples hard work, at least re-word it.
Then again. Maybe I'm just overreacting.
I <3 Atomic!

Goonit they do work very hard for the magazine which means the site sort of takes the back burner a bit also it is only a 3 man operation with a few specialty articles along the way.

Why would that be an unfair test?
It would be unfair to put false limitations on one card that is capable of extra.

Goonit: We actually have a feed agreement with The Inquirer. It is something that we pay for to supplement the articles we write for the site and re-purpose from the magazine - we do not 'steal' it.
I know there are some people who dislike the feed, but I also have to point out that these stories are often some of our most popular stories. As to Charlie (the writer you refer to, Sceptre), he writes very much based on his own beliefs - like we do at Atomic itself.

Yeah but Dave.. some people write about promoting terrorism. It's their belief, and they express themselves passionately about it, but you wouldn't condone it's appropriation for viewing on this site. Clearly the guy has fanboi issues. Im not saying that all Inquirer articles be banned from Atomic, some of them are pretty good. But this Charlie guy comes in with his narrow minded view, and anti-nVidia wording, taking away the enthusiasm of what nVidia are currently up to.. and progressing in. If they were re-worded, great... but Im sick of this guy's 'intelligence' or lack there of.

meh... you know what I noticed from the magazine... all review are very biased.
They are ATI fan boy. I got an ATI now been on ATI but... I always look for the best hardware regardless. It looks like the NVIDIA a little bit faster on this one.
