The latest in Apple's line of iMacs is due to be revealed tomorrow, a product Steve Jobs is hoping will save the companies freefalling sales. Following Apple's usual doctrine of 'not a word until we're good and ready', there hasn't been all that much in the way of information on the new iMac floating around the various Apple zealot sites. That is, until now. Sometime this morning, Apple's carefully laid plans were blown to smithereens by the website of Time Canada when its webmaster inadvertently posted a story on the new iMac, complete with pictures. But wait, there's more. The date of release marked on the story is 14th January, 2002. Can it get any more amusing? Certainly.

The actual story is rife with praise for Jobs and Apple. So much so that you come away with the impression that the entire story was nothing more than paid advertising. As one esteemed member of our editorial crew put it, 'its like “bend-over-and-cough” journalism'. But of course, we can't say that, so we won't.

In view of Apple's track record on issues such as this, we can expect Time Canada to be taking the story down post haste. Furthermore, Atomic predicts Canada will have yet another jobless webmaster looking for a way to earn a crust.
