Steve Jobs must be having iKittens. The Time iMac leak, breaking just hours before what was likely expected to be a triumphant paradigm-level Jobsism Apple launch, has thrown the Mac community into a frenzy with the minute by minute developments.

As we reported, www.timecanada.com posted the new cover story, being the new iMac and Steve Jobs subsequent step closer to sainthood.

Apparently someone at Time wasn't told about the embargo, and pics and scant details were posted as the lead story.

About an hour later, timecanada.com went dead. About thirty minutres after that, timecanada was re-directed to time.com.

Clever iHackers soon discovered another link at timecanada - what looked like a holding pen for stories waiting to be posted. That held for an hour and a bit, but a few minutes ago was re-directed back to time.com.

Shortly after the main story broke, the official Macworld Expo site (www.macworldexpo.com) flashed an urgent update, bumping Jobs' keynote speech to 9:00am - opening time for the show.

Mac lovers worldwide are spinning, hoax theories abound, although print copies of the infamous Time have apparently been obtained.

In the background of this amusing mess, is the fact that the Time story is one of the most ridiculously hero-worshiping, technically illerate piece of journalism we've read. It's so appallingly Jobs-worshipping, that one senses that the author was feeling like the most priviliged journo in IT, having scooped what he thought was the Big One.

Wonder how he feels now?
