Weekends seem to be getting more and more busy news wise. At least, it seems that way judging by the past two weeks. Despite the fact that many of you will have read about these subjects already, we post them here for completeness.

First up is new technology from Yamaha that allows you to inscribe 'pictures' on the unused portions of your CD-Rs. According to CDRLabs you can write any type of “memo” such as “date”, “contents”, “logo”, “pictures” etc. on the un-used area of the disk.'

XP users who hold a secret love for OS X are out of luck after Apple contacted ThemeXP over alleged copyright violation. Apple asked ThemeXP to remove two hosted themes – "EclipseOSX v4.40" and "MacOSX Aqua 3.2". Considering Apple's litigious track record, ThemeXP took the prudent route and complied with the request.

Microsoft has been ordered to give several US states access to Windows source code so that they may investigate Microsoft's claim of IE being too far integrated into Windows to be removed. Many people are seeing this as a large milestone on the road to victory for current anti-trust proceedings, but logic suggests otherwise. Microsoft will fight this ruling as far as it possibly can and even if the company is eventually forced to submit code, several individuals and institutions already have access and have done for quite some time.

The C&C Renegade multiplayer demo came out over the weekend. You can grab it here. Please note that a new version of the demo, along with a patch for the current version, is due to be released soon due to numerous complaints over lag problems. Apparently the problems are related to limitations on the upstream bandwidth of game servers themselves – 1.5Mbit per 16 players is recommended.
