Atomic meets happen all over the country. LANs, BBQs, Bowling, Cricket, Movie nights, Sushi dinners – any type of meet you can think of, is either happening or in the midst of being planned by someone in the community.

Atomican and forum member moz was kind enough to send in his write-up of the Brisbane l33t m33t number 3. We also have to thank readerr0r for sending in the cool (but rather large) video's. Links are at the bottom of the page.

The morning of January 19th is not one that I will easily forget.

I awoke with good intent. Thoughts of showering, shaving, preparing a healthy breakfast and going for an invigorating jog all flashed through my mind.

But instead, I threw on an old t-shirt, drank a triple strength coffee and drove into Brisbane for the third at0mic L33t m33t.

Arriving at “The Bunker” (A L33t gaming lounge) at 9 O' the clock, I was greeted by the merry sounds of violent fragging. *sigh* I said to myself. This is what life is all about. Many at0micans were there already, and my journey to my appointed PC of Death was hampered by greetings from fellow at0micans who recognized my ugly mush from the last two m33ts.

The morning was a frantic affair, with bloodbath after bloodbath replaying on my screen. One of these days I'll learn how to play CS properly and last more than 30 seconds a round. Looking around me, all I could see was happy people. We were in our element. Surrounded by friends who were trying to reach that binary bliss that so few gamers ever achieve – owning their mates totally.

Lunch time saw a break in all gaming activity. Graphics cards and CPU's were hung out to cool off, whilst the at0mican group, clad in their “real world” regalia, tromped down to the local pizza hut to grab a pre-ordered takeaway banquet.

Lunch was held in a dark corner of The Bunker (actually, it's all pretty dark in there) and everyone got into some serious eating and socializing.

The afternoon/evening gaming session brought its usual mixture of laughter and tears and was regretfully wound up at 9pm. With “Goodbye and see you at the next m33t!” a popular parting comment, we went our separate ways. A few hard core socialites went on to a session at the movies, but for most of us, the day was over.

But man, WHAT a day it was.
