Due to popular demand (you can stop sending us email about it now, ok?) we’ve got a bunch of forum changes ready to go this morning. Included is a renaming or three, two new forum categories, a new ‘forum code’ tag and simplified navigation.

Due to popular demand (you can stop sending us email about it now, ok?) we've got a bunch of forum changes ready to go this morning. Included is a renaming or three, two new forum categories, a new 'forum code' tag and simplified navigation.

First up, the three major forum categories have been renamed. General is now 'The Talk', Hardware has been renamed to 'The Machine' and Games – well, Games has been renamed to what it truly is: 'The Fun'.

Programming: This category covers any and all aspects of programming. From programming methodologies, 'best practice' and theory such as the Object Orientated programming model and proper routines to follow when debugging, through to the languages themselves: C, C++, Perl, Java, ASP, PHP, VB, C# and .NET, JavaScript, VB Script, etc. To help facilitate the posting of examples, the programming forum includes the capability to use

tags. Any text within these tags will appear in Courier New font (making it much easier to read). It will also retain proper formatting such as tabs and spaces. However, please note that the text input box is still a form element – tabbing will only move you to the next element in the form. If you want to post code examples, do the actual code in notepad and then cut/paste it from there.

Multimedia: This category covers all things multimedia: Music and video production – composing, editing and mixing; 3D Modeling, texture editing, map making and basically anything to do with game mods. If it's in any way arty, Multimedia has it covered.

And last on the list is a simplified way of navigating the forums - something we've all been after for quite a while. Check it out.

And that, dear Atomicans, is the end of today's forum announcement.

Nothing to see here, move along.
