Ubisoft takes TV/gaming crossovers too far

Do you want cute doctors and romance in your gaming life? Then lucky you...

We don't normally hold with copy-and-paste press-release-journalism here at Atomic, but this newest PR spill to cross our desk is just too - funny? Odd? Downright terrifying? Your choice - to ignore.

"Ubisoft is thrilled to be collaborating with ABC Studios to turn this phenomenal television series into an interactive experience," said Christian Salomon, vice president of worldwide licensing at Ubisoft. "In Grey’s Anatomy: The Video Game, fans will have a chance to take on the roles of all of their favourite doctors in an all-new original storyline. As each doctor, players will make important personal and professional decisions, explore the direct relationships with each other, and perform the delicate surgeries the series is known for, all through fun and engaging game play."

Oh my - Grey's Anatomy. Seriously, it took me a while to work out that a) this is quite serious, and b) it's not April Fools Day yet.

I'll be out back throwing up - don't call for a doctor.

this has got to be one of the worst decisions that ubisoft has ever made. what would worry me even more was if the game actually made a profit.

A friend of mine has every series on DVD, if this is game done right you know it will sell like hot cakes. Reason being is the mad following the series has.
To be honest I watched the first series, then gave up...

He must of puked while holding the shift key down, or projectile vomit hit the Caps Lock key?

Sure Jack, it is a very popular show. People really get into it. But the game is not going to sell. I am thinking of people I know who like the show and imagining their reaction if I gave them a Grey's Anatomy video game. They fall into two streams:

A) Normal people who wouldn't play a simulation game if you paid them and are unlikely to play video games at all.

B) Gamer girls who have far better games to play.

They'd sell like hot cakes at Coeliac Disease Convention. That is to say that only suicidal people would buy it.

I think that joke might have bee a little obscure =/

I don't get the reaction from you people.

A game based on the show, aimed at those that like the show......

What's the fuss?
