OzEmail has announced it will be launching a residential ADSL service at some point in June. The service, which was originally slated to launch late last year, will be 'Layer 2' DSL – meaning OzEmail will operate its own authentication, billing, data monitoring and support functions. This will allow the company to bypass Telstra billing and authentication systems, which have run into numerous problems and technical glitches over the last twelve months.

According to Australian IT, the service has already undergone engineering trials and a certain number of customers are currently hooked up to OzEmail ADSL as part of the trial process.

Prices are yet to be announced, however OzEmail CEO Justin Milne was quoted as saying 'We've been very careful about DSL, making sure when we go to market with a robust product that will be competitively priced, and most of all will be reliable.'
