Case modding is fun. It’s also one of the first things any true Atomican does to their box – whether it be a simple window and neon kit, a few extra fans or a full blown custom jobbie with water cooling, umpteen LEDs and a twelve layer paint job.

Case modding is fun. It's also one of the first things any true Atomican does to their box – whether it be a simple window and neon kit, a few extra fans or a full blown custom jobbie with water cooling, umpteen LEDs and a twelve layer paint job.

Over the last three issues of Atomic we've run the Heavy Water tutorial, a project whose primary aim is to create 'the Atomic Heavy Water Box from Hell'. Our tuts have so far covered everything from metalwork and case cooling through to electrical wiring setup, LEDs and lapping. And there's still more to come.

Due to the huge amount of work involved in completing Heavy Water we decided to spread the feature across four Atomic issues. However, even this measure failed to give us the room to include as many pictures in the magazine as we would have liked. So we chose the best of the best to go in, those that were most relevant and best illustrated the concepts behind what we did in each issue. Surplus pictures, those that were good but not quite as relevant, were put into the Heavy Water Website feature.

If you look to your left, you'll find a 'Heavy Water' button on the Atomic menu. This leads to our project pages (put together by article author and supreme case modder, Ron Prouse) which are chock full of all the pictures we wanted to showcase in the mag but could not due to space restrictions. You can access each different area by clicking on the main hot box picture.

You may notice some parts of the project are yet to be updated. The pics and descriptions in these areas compliment the final part of our Heavy Water tutorial, appearing in Issue 20 of Atomic Maximum Power Computing. Once Issue 20 hits the streets, we'll throw the last of the content online and we can all bask in the glory that is the completed Atomic Heavy Water hot box.
