Issue 59 of Phrack Magazine has finally been released to the public, a mere seven months after the release of 58. Incidentally, this is the official release of Phrack 59. According to Phrack staff, a leaked version that was doing the rounds earlier this week contains a trojan. It's also heavily edited.

For those who've never run across Phrack, it's an online magazine (of sorts) covering a broad range of subjects including Unix, network and system security, programming, protocols, 'hacking' (in both the traditional sense of the word as well as its more common usage), cryptography, hardware and more.

Run by a small team of core staff, the majority of Phrack content is provided by freelance authors who submit articles for consideration. Generally, content that makes it into each new issue of the magazine is both highly informative and highly technical. Which also makes it difficult to understand if you don't already have a good grounding in the topics being discussed.

Areas covered in the latest Phrack include kernel hacking, discovery of root kits, key log programming and methods to defeat Unix-based IDS. Browse the issue online here, or download the tar.gz archive here.
