Somewhat reminiscent of the Grand Theft Auto 3 rating debacle that graced this news section not long ago, Acclaim’s new game, BMX XXX, has received a Refused Classification from the OFLC and will not appear in Australia.

Somewhat reminiscent of the Grand Theft Auto 3 rating debacle that graced this news section not long ago, Acclaim's new game, BMX XXX, has received a Refused Classification from the OFLC and will not appear in Australia.

Destined for the PlayStation 2, GameCube, Game Boy Advance and Xbox, BMX XXX contains bikes and tricks galore, in addition to something that can only be described as 'boobage'. This will definitely be the main pull (sorry) for the game, as Dave Mirra withdrew his name from the game's title, not wanting to be associated with the M rating. This did not deter AKA Acclaim, who held fast and continued development.

Apart from the nudity, the game will feature highly detailed rider and bike models, as well as a particle system designed to enhance the realism of the level environments. Talking of levels, there will be eight massive areas to explore, and will require players to master five BMX disciplines - vert, dirt, flatland, park and real street riding.
Of course, you won't actually be able to do or see any of this, as the game will never experience the light of day over here. And unlike GTA3, there is no word on whether or not the game will be changed to allow its release in Australia.

Acclaim has had no problems with its other games, however, which should see pre-Christmas releases. AFL Live 2003 for Xbox, Haven Call of the King and Legends of Wrestling 2 will be available on October 31st, 22nd November and early December, respectively.
