ATI has decided to name its new graphics chip the 9800XT, after tossing up between 9900 PRO and 9800XT.

The code name for the processor was R360, however, ATI didn't believe it would be justified calling the chip a 9900 as it won't have enough of a performance difference.

It will be clocked at around 425MHz or more. The memory will be DDR I or II, clocked at 700MHz. Apparently, it will be tricky to get the extra megahertz on the .15-micron process, but ATI believes it's possible.
