Solar Power and Intel

Essential linkage: Harnessing the power of the sun to save a bit of cash.

It seems that Intel, being the busy and industrious company they are, have recently been playing around with the concept of using solar power for their servers.

With a budget of a few million $US spent on alternative energy sources every year, Intel is definitely one of the leaders in this push for renewable energy.

Apart from a handful of issues (such as what to do when the sun goes down), solar energy seems a sustainable and in some cases even practical way to keep those handy systems filled to the brim with bountiful electrons.

ars technica has the full scoop on this bright idea.

Screw the environment.
If it saves you a bit of cash, it's all good. Finally, a company not feeding us "saving the world" bullshit. Intel lays it down hard and fast. "Saving money, so fuck you".

Good on them.
