Bollywood gets game

India's first 3D computer game to be based on hit movie based on hit movie.

India is aiming to bust into the games industry riding on the back of one of its most popular box office smash hits, Bollywood thriller, Ghajini.

This will be India’s first 3D video game and is expected to transform the country’s gaming market from next to nothing all the way up to $1.3 billion.

Sashi Reddy, head of FX labs, which developed the game said, "There are no Indian games so we wanted to bring Indian games to the audiences here and we built India's first 3D game."

The game will be for PC and will be launched in India next month, but also worldwide punted by Indian film distributor, Eros International.

The film, Ghajini, which this game is replicating, is supposed to be loosely based on the 2000 Oscar-nominated Hollywood thriller Memento – although is a guy who can’t even remember five minutes ago a good character for a game?

Ghajini stars the popular Bollywood character, Aamir Khan and follows the story of a businessman who has short-term memory loss and is trying to seek revenge for his wife’s murder – 'loosely' based on Memento eh?

Reddy added that India is seeing a lot more interest in games in that country, and so is hoping that this game will find popularity riding on the back of the film’s success.

If Memento was brought out on PC, would you buy it?
