Essential linkage: Can't be arsed messing about with the Windows 7 beta? Then this video walkthrough is what you need.

There's a lot of clever clogs over at Computer Choice, the chief clog is ex-Atomic editor Ashton Mills, who still writes our X-Ray articles and a column for the mag each month.

He recently got in contact to let me know that he's gotten one of his unter-clogs - a dab hand with a bit of video, apparently - to work up a complete visual tour of the new Windows 7 beta.

We think that's something worth sharing.

But the billion dollar question is, is there still a "Classic" skin?

"Whoop de doo Basil, but what does it all mean?"

I'm not excited at all about this one since Vista hasn't let me down once yet. Now if they started incorporating some of the Linux features rather than Mac features then i'd maybe raise an eyebrow.

Nice link tho :).

Make it use less than 128mb of ram and I'll be excited.

Come on, RAM is cheap these days. 4 gig is standard even for Dell desk/laptops.

And you are better off loading stuff into RAM and use the speed than have it sit there unused except when you load an app.

Since I bought vista, I havent used it that much apart from playing games on it. To be totally honest, I didnt see the need to move my usage over to vista. I do like the Aero interface very much but apart from that, and a few other things, Vista is, from my POV, a dot upgrade of XP with a new UI.

I have been following Win 7 very closely in the past months and Ive also got it installed on my system. I must say that it is what Vista shouldve been. The video does make note of a device driver support though which was the arc heel of Vista. Only time will tell if things get a little better with Win 7.

Apart from that, I am quite impressed with what theyve done so far with Win 7. This is certainly a new direction for MS.

This has certinaly turned the tables for Microsoft. In time, I hope that this does not end up like a chapter in Microsoft's History titled "21st Century Flatline: The Worst Operating System in History"

This is still early days though. Even though I am impressed with Windows 7 (so far so good) I am willing to look into a crystal ball to see Windows 7 six-months down the track.

Only time will tell.....

I was happy with it at first. But the more I used it the more annoyances I found (which should hopefully be fixed by the full release) and I am back to using XP again. I'm not a fan of aero though so... you know...

been using it as my primary desktop OS for about 3 weeks now, and i have to say im very impressed. Ive only experienced 2 problems, one with installing itunes which the solution center helped me correct straight away and a problem with sleep or some other power related issue which when i woke my pc back up it would be unresponsive, but i turned it up to high performance and told it to never sleep and the problem was fixed. ive only played fallout 3 and civilization 4 and expansions on it so far but they all play right as rain to. :)

@DiStOrTeD

Have you used the system,
I have never had much problem with Vista, I had more with XP actually. I only came across a few minor Software issues with the 7 Beta.

I just wanted to say not to be so quick to dismiss. The new task bar style takes the OSX dock even further that Apple has, It fast, clean clear and easy to use. That just being 1 of the great new features in the Beta, i my self cant wait for the end-result.
