NVIDIA blacklisting review sites for upcoming GTS250 card

Just what are the green fumblers doing this time? Two things: one bad, the other downright deceptive. The bad one is simple, if you don't review Nvidia cards and say that PhysX is the greatest thing since sliced bread and CUDA makes sex better, you aren't doing a good enough job. They will gently nudge you to change your tune, basically praise PhysX and CUDA until you wear the letters off your keyboard.

The carrot and stick approach might help here, but Nvidia doesn't like carrots. They just threaten. Kyle at HardOPC made the deal-breaking mistake of being honest, so it is doghouse time for him, and the site. Welcome to the club, we even have a fort. I assume Kyle got the list of who got cut too, so will know we will have quite big-name company soon joining us soon. Punch and pie.

So, short story, Nvidia is playing with the press once again. And since it has no new product, it is desperately afraid of the truth getting out. And if you didn't drool over PhysX and CUDA enough, you are cut out. This is exactly what Apple does to keep the press in line, but Apple has something Nvidia doesn't: competence.

If that wasn't bad enough, the next part is. Normally, when a vendor cuts you out, if you really care, you can go to one of their partners and get boards/chips/whatever. Sometimes this is even a better idea because one or two tend to have a special card, overclocked, shiny metal cooler, or box with bigger breasts on the model. This time Nvidia specifically forbade partners from giving sites parts if they were on honesty hiatus.

Not only that, but the flat-out dishonesty is that Nvidia gave its board partners 'special' boards to send to reviewers. They are not allowed to give out their own vanilla cards, they MUST use the special set supplied by Nvidia.

I am very disturbed to hear this. i know nvidia have done the dodge in the past but this is methodical and nothing short of malicious deciet. I just recently got a 9800GTX+. No real complaints about the performance of the card and I got it for $250. I just dont like doing business with deciet as the punch line. This is unacceptable business practice.

Nvidia has had my business for the past 7 years. Time to reconsider.

This reminds me of the Seagate drama a few weeks ago. Power to the people I say. We have the power as consumers, if we dont buy their stuff then they go down, we decide who wins or loses. Companies need to keep that in mind.Knowledge is power.
I was going to upgrade my video card soon. Hmmmm, RED goes faster right ?? :)

Time for red.

God damn it, I'm not happy about the switch either. But this article has pushed me to that.

given that the X has been replaced with an S, does this mean it won't be tri-sli compatible?

Yeah it a real pity that the only other option deos not stack up for me. Otherwise I would so be on their side of the fence.

ATi get your drivers in order - do that and you will see a mas exodus from team envy.

Wow, this is total fail, I guess I might avoid their products in the future. I can't wait to see what Intel have hiding up their sleeves. :)

NVIDIA i am about to toss all of your cards that i own starting at my first geforce 256ddr and never again shall i buy your product because i simply can't trust you to supply me with genuine product. GO AND LOOK UP TRUST then apply it to your business model. So its hello ATI from now on

glad i already made the switch (tho, tbh, i was already disgusted with nvidia over the "new" 9 series cards..)
that, and the off the charts pricing they used to have (until AMD came out swinging with the 4 series)

i doubt ill upgrade my 4870 until the refresh of the next gen (so not the opening next gen cards, the revised versions of them), and it will be team red aswell..

Sparky there is nothing wrong with ATI drivers, half the time its Vista or another rare driver that causes the problem. I still think people use the ATI driver thing as an excuse to stay with Nvidia even in the face of better price/performance figures.

I find that any "Inquirer" articles about Nvidia are always "Unethical" and "purposefully dishonest". Until I see proof from another reputable website I don't believe a word.

Yeah, I was under the impression that The Inquirer was biased toward ATI.

@Sorcerer the chances of intel making a good graphics card is slim to none. That's just my opinion though.

If they are seriously going down that road then I'm turning red in more ways than one.

I've been a nVidia supporter since the 64MB cards. Long while. I don't see myself buying another nVidia card again if this trend continues.

Nvidia cards are being crapped on by ATI anyway.

Another nail in the coffin for Nvidia, it would seem.

*Sigh*
Everyone knows the inquirer writer absolutely hates Nvidia. I'd be taking this article with a huge gain of salt.

The 9800GT was almost identical (Or is?) to the 8800GT right? Didn't hear any conspiracy theories there.

A graphics card company do a rebadge? How dishonest!

Graphics cards/memory/cpu hand picked or luck of the draw?..

Stop re-publishing this guys non-sense would you Atomicmpc! Or atleast put "aledgedly" at the start of everything you get from this d!ckhead.

Maybe ATI drivers have improved. My issue with them was not for single monitor mode or playing games etc. The issue is connecting TV's & other monitors. I haven't tried the drivers with recent hardware - all I know is I make it a point to ensure I don't get an ATI card as past experience (w/ TVs, Multi Monitor) has just been plain "too hard". I cbf fiddling just right. w/ Nvidia you plug things in, turn them on and your done...

This is pretty crap of Nvidia to do what they are doing - truth is the masses wont notice and Nvidia will get some coin...

As for me I cbf bothering with ATI cards any more...

I do think things like these generate drama and malicious intentions.
>This is exactly what Apple does to keep the press in line, but Apple has something Nvidia doesn't: competence
In all ''dishonestity'', and frankly; Apple does have competence. Nvidia does have competence.
This competence also powers rivarly between all of them alike, and with no exclusion to managing a somehow good relationship between ATI and Intel.
Yes, this competence thing, it's called ATI's surge, AMD. By applying a bigger force with ATI, AMD still has goals that can prevail and arise publically.
That is why both Nvidia and VIA cooperate. Because both can help Apple take it easy.
Nvidia does provide, and while it does, it doesn't need to provide all sort of things in time and all changed, that's why the rebranding came with the last bunch of cards.
If you got any sand on your vagina, just because someone shut down a Review in the tubes, you don't have to put excuses to fake your dimission, you failed at previewing an article.

This is why I never came here.
