What do you want in Modern Warfare 2?

Infinity Ward wants your feedback on new features for the next Call of Duty.

For a game that hasn't even been officially announced, a lot of people sure are talking up Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. It's been talked up in financial reports, twittered about by IW employees, and now, on the Infinity Ward site, the devs want to know what fans want to see in the next iteration of the modern shooter.

To that end Infinity Ward has set up a Twitter feed on its site where fans or those addicted to spamming "I WANT OT KILL OSAMA!!!" can share their views.

Oddly enough, the constantly scrolling and updating list is kind of addictive, and a great window into the gaming psyche. Sure, there are some great suggestions ("Add civilians/hostage situations, your character should SPEAK, more hand to hand type attacks, throat cutting, neck breaking, etc" and "Please let us choose between Matchmaking Ranked Matches or Just play Matches(where you don't gain nor lose XP)") others are a little more obtuse... "slash cud be a perk SLASH comes and plays guitar and the terrorists go insane because of the american music!!"

Actually, that would be kind of awesome.

ahsoka Mar 3, 2009 12:52 PM	Some proper hand to hand combat would be nice - seeing as most armies and police forces etc. use Jujitsu (the Japanese one, not to be confused with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) that's probably what they should model hand to hand combat off. Some Aussie troops wouldn't go astray either. I also like the sound of hostage situations - raiding a building SWAT-style would rock like all hell. It would be nice to see a Mac (and how about Linux too?) version of it available at launch rather than later on down the track. Something should also be done about spawn-killing (it's just downright annoying). I know I should probably be saying all this on the Twitter feed, but hey...I'm saying it here. Actually, how about we get an Atomic-wide thing going and then combine all the results together and then present it to the devs? That would be pretty cool...

Hawkeye Mar 3, 2009 2:13 PM	I'm not sure the extra hand-to-hand stuff has a place in the game. Sure, all modern military train in numerous forms of self defence, but no infrantrymen ever likes getting their hands bloody. Plus I think it would be hard to handle given the restrictions of the Xbox controller.

Hawkeye Mar 3, 2009 2:59 PM	Heh :) Actually, there was one twitter suggestion that I thought was really interesting. If you're waiting to respawn or are dead in a map that doesn't allow it, you can be called upon to pilot bombing runs and helicopter support missions. That's a pretty neat idea.

sicarius123 Mar 3, 2009 4:04 PM	Some better PS3 support wouldn't go Astray. IW really let the PS3 down with post purchase support, taking much longer to address issues than the Xbox version as well as not integrating newer features. Also after joining the IW forum I was disgusted to see that no mods frequented the PS3 section, and when they did they didn't seem to care about it and showed they only cared about the Xbox and PC versions. COD4 was a great game, but the people who work at IW seem to be complete knobs.

Hawkeye Mar 4, 2009 9:50 AM	Yeah, Co-op mode is certainly up there, and I think the game would really come alive with that kind of gameplay. It would also be great to see co-up perks, too. Like being able to swap mags, share vision (a la helmet-cams) and other cool stuff.
funky_monkey Mar 5, 2009 7:41 AM	First off you must think. What did Tryech (sp) not do to cod5 to match IW. From there you can ask for new features. First off something I would like to see brought back into COD6 is the removal of any tanks. They are not what COD series are about any fan can tell you that. Second is the perks. They did a good job with the perks in COD5 I believe so I doubt there will be any issues with perks. I think that having a perk which allows you to plant a net would be kind of cool. different but cool. That or be able to dig a hole and place mesh over the top. Then there is Single Player. The storyline wasn't bad in COD5 I liked it. but was unimpressed with the jump from russian to US. So hopefully in COD6 this won't be an issue. Multiplayer Server browser. I would like to see that brought up as a first and biggest Priority for IW for any multiplayer aspect. The issues it caused back in COD4 took a good 4 patches to fix it. they will lose too many people. maps. This is something we can't really suggest anything on as everyone has their own taste of maps and what might be "heaven" for you it's a hell for someone else. Overall I think the guys need to make sure they don't rush sit down and make the game the way they make all their COD games. With 2 parts love and 2 parts of awesomeness mixed in with a barrel of community cidar it should be a great hit no matter what. So many people were against COD5 ( which everyone was expecting) however people moved over about the issues and kept playing the game. Ciao
nuttercake Mar 8, 2009 10:44 PM	Co-op mode as some people have mentioned, and more weapons like the HK416 and the G36, not just the G36c. And when you shoot corpses they move and bullet holes through limbs. And wounded soldiers spit out blood.
