Mobo and graphics manufacturer is no more.
Atomic has had a special place in our heart for most manufacturers of techy components, and especially for those select few who always seemed to be able to impress us with standout products that would clock just that little bit extra.
Abit is, or more correctly, was one of those manufacturers, and they've given us everything from a FX5900 graphics card back in late 2003 all the way to the last thing we got out of them - a P35-based mobo in early 2008.
While not all their mobos and cards were amazingly good there were a few crowd favourites, and their presence in the rather packed tech market was steadily declining right until the end of last year when they announced they'd be stopping their mobo business and focus on the retail side of consumer electronics.
Sadly that strategy failed for them, and the entire company is in liquidation. They're still going to keep a small office open for warranties and other support-related things, but essentially the company is no more.
RIP, Abit.
We got news of this from HeXus, and while there's a strong chance of it being correct (especially given their mobo situation, economy and such) it's possible they can pull through. What do you think?
