There's something in the water... and it's shaped like a Big Daddy, as Bioshock 2 marketing kicks into gear.
Bioshock was a master stroke of atmosphere and storytelling, and it's starting to look like the bar will be raised even higher in the much-anticipated sequel. A new teaser site - There's something in the sea - has started feeding hints and clues as to just what the next installment is all about.
Since going live, more evidence is being posted. The site is a worn world map, with three locations in the UK and Northern Europe marked. Scattered on the map are newspaper excerpts, letters and photographs that all point to something happening under the sea - something about missing girls, strange lights and even odder phenomena...
Our particular favourite is a faded photograph of an old doll, obviously made by a child. It features a head with four nails for eyes, under a cage-like superstructure, and a drill for an arm. Oddly familiar, that one...
So if you're a fan, check it out. Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams is due for a late 2009 release.
