Video: Riddick's on the hunt in this latest trailer for Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena. Plus Riddick movie news!

We have an unreasoning love of Richard B. Riddick.

That voice, the lithe, killer moves... and of course the shining cold-hearted eyes. Pitch Black was an unlikely vehicle for a franchise that his since launched one sequel film and two prequel games, but we're not complaining - there's simply not enough sociopathic serial killer heroes out there (well, there's Dexter, but he's not quite in the same league).

And now, we're very happy to see that Vin Diesel and David Twohy are working on a third film in The Chronicles of Riddick! In a recent interview on GameSpot, Diesel had this to say:

"I think we were so adamant about knocking this game out of the park that we've been doing a lot of late hours - the overtime's on the game at the moment while David Twohy is finishing up the next script."

Music to our ears.

In the meantime, though, you can get a does of Riddick at his coldest in this new trailer for Assault on Dark Athena.

"Not hiding... hunting." Awesome.

I dig the new player! Very swish.

The demo for "Assault on Dark Athena" has been up on the Xbox Marketplace for about a week now I think.

But I've not downloaded it.

I've never seen a Riddick film.

Oh, such punishment.

Go rent or even just buy Pitch Black. Absolutely awesome lo-fi sci-fi.

I've been meaning to!

It slipped me by on release, and when the sequel came out I avoided it because I hadn't seen the first one.

You get the picture.

It sounds great...but yeah...kind of keeps slipping from my memory each time there's a DVD sale on at JB.

Actually, I'll weigh in on this one too - OMG! I've been waiting for a worthy successor to Butcher Bay, and this seems to be shaping up to be exactly the right game ^-^
