Video: Get a taste of what Sega's new spy RPG, Alpha Protocol, is all about.

Spy games, despite the success of titles like Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid, have never quite taken off - and nor have they ever quite delivered on the full on spy action. But Alpha Protocol - from Obsidian Entertainment - might just be what we've been waiting for...

The game's publisher, Sega, is branding it as the first modern spy RPG, and from the look of the first trailer, they may be on to something. The game features a points-based skill system, taut combat, and lots of speccy abilities to play around with. What's more, the dialogue system will be based off if the personalities of what Obsidian calls the the three JBs - James Bond, Jack Bauer and Jason Bourne.

We can't wait to get kneecapping.

In the meantime, though, we'll just have to make do with the first trailer for the game.

Yeah... that looks like it'll do just nicely. Alpha Protocol is set for release on all platforms October this year.

so far it looks good to me.
Especially if the hand to hand combat is as good as it looks, which was the one thing i didn't like about MGS was the limited H2H combat. but then again who needs H2H when a head shot is just as effective :)

Looks interesting, althought it might be too linear for my tastes.

Apparently the gameplay is very hub based - you have a safe-house where you take missions from. Some essential, some not so.

So it may not be as linear is it looks in a general sense.
