Stephen Colbert's new NASA module

Colbert even nudged out Serenity!

NASA recently ran a competition to get the International Space Station's third Node named, leaving it up to the fine people of the world to choose the name.

Four options were given (Earthrise, Legacy, Serenity and Venture), and users could also suggest their own custom names for the Node.

Even though Serenity got 70% of the votes for the four options, it was eclipsed by more than 40,000 votes for Colbert!

Stephen Colbert, of The Colbert Report, had been urging his viewers to vote for his name on the module for quite some time, and while we're not happy that Serenity didn't get it (we love you Firefly!), we're incredibly jealous that he's got his name attached to something spinning around in space.

Head to MSNBC to read a little more about this lucky, lucky man.

I wonder if they would have named it "More space junk" or "A pile of Sh*t" if someone managed to get people to vote for that name?

Seriously though, very cool. I would love to have my name on a peice of space junk.
