Video: A new trailer opens up Prototype's story, and the game gets an Australian rating - has it made it past the censors?

Prototype is a pretty gory game. As a rampaging shape-shifter smashing New York and New Yorkers in rubble and paste respectively, the game pulls no punches on the squick-factor. There were some concerns that the flesh-rending and body tossing of the game might see it run afoul of the ACMA, but Activision today announced that the game is uncut and will be rated MA15+.

That's good news, to be sure, and to celebrate we've got the latest trailer for the game. This latest releases delves further into the story and its characters - it's not all smashing people to red mist, there's a plot in there too!

And it's looking pretty compelling so far...

The game is coming this Winter, for all major platforms.

Not sure the developers should be using this game's plot as a selling point. Protagonist with amnesia who was experimented on and is now hunted by some evil military types? Original. And... Alex was made into the ultimate badass. Now he's tracking down those responsible to make them pay... for making him into the ultimate badass? I'd be tracking them down to thank them!

However, it does look goretastically awesome.
