Video: One of Batman: Arkham Asylum's villains takes a bow...

Now, I'm not one of those fans who's all drooly over The Joker's sidekick, paramour and muse, Harley Quinn, but I know a few people who might have a little thing for the murderous Quinn. I can see the attraction - the charm, the outfit, the psychopathy - but it's never gotten a rise, so to speak.

Until now. Batman: Arkham Asylum's Harley Quinn is toasty hot and scary.

Oh boy. I'll be in my bunk.

I'm ... disappointed. Mostly with the animation.

I can understand the desire to portray a comic-book style, meaning there's no need to go for a completely realistic look.

But comic books also portray really fluid, hyperbolic, sexy and dramatic motion and action ... which I'm just not seeing. I feel like this is a PS2 game with better graphics.

When is this game due out again?

In June.

I'm just playing through Vampire(Bloodlines) again... Anyone else think she looks rather like Jeanette, the Malkavian club owner?

*raises hand to the "Who's got a Harley Quinn fetish?" question*

If Bruce Timm were dead, I've no doubt he'd be rolling in his grave.

I get the whys and wherefores for the design change, you know, since Batman's gone all gritty and realistic.

I love the look of the game, and from what I've seen Bane, The Joker and Killer Croc all fit the new design aesthetics, but Quinn just looks overly slutty and unattractive.

Give me Timm's slick red, white and black one-piece any day over this broken and wrong school-girl look.

Incidentally, Kevin Smith likes Harley Quinn so much he named his daughter after her.

I know :)

I don't mind the look, and I'm guessing there'll be some costume changes throughout. I've a friend who really seriously wants to get a latex version of the Timm outfit, and boy would she look the part - but she's also pretty excited about this interpretation.

Latex, eh? That would be so sweet. I've seen a couple of cosplay versions of Harley around, but none that have really nailed it for me.

Perhaps I'm just fussy (or too entrenched in my own fantasies, more likely).

And for extra geek points and ragging rights on the Bruce Timm front:

Some of my best friends are called Daniel!

And is that a Ralph McQuarrie print, with film cell? They are classy bits of fan-stuff.

Yeah, it is. I've been meaning to mod the frame and stick some LED lighting behind the cell for years...but never got around to it.

Sadly there's a stack more unframed stuff in tubes in the cupboard including a Dynamic Forces G1 "Transformers" litho and a signed "Sam and Max" print.

Framing might be pricey but wall space is getting low too!
