So easy it can be done in your sleep!
DirectX 11 was first announced as the sucessor to DX10 back in 2008, claiming to offer performance increases as well as enhanced effects for developers.
We did a huge write-up of all DirectX 11's features in Issue 100, but just announced is the first engine to utilise it; Battlefield: Bad Company 2.
When we first looked at Battlefield: BC we liked what we saw, and the direction they wanted to take the first game in was a fascinating read, but now they've done something different again and ported their entire engine to DX11.
The process is apparently very simple, and involves searching through the existing DX10 code to replace older code with the newest stock.
It's fast too; taking only about three hours to move the entire Frostbite engine up a notch, and a handy switch can change the renderer from DX10 to DX11 easily.
