New Red Dead Redemption trailer

Video: Rockstar's new cowboy epic gets a gritty and epic new trailer.

The western FPS seems - to me, at least - like some kind of elusive dream. No game has yet quite delivered on the promise of combining first person action with one of the most revered of story-telling mediums.

That said, from this trailer, Red Dead Redemption is getting damned close. The sequel to Red Dead Revolver moves the action up into the early 20th century - we've dropped hints asking if this means we can expect a Sam Peckinpah/Wild Bunch tale, and have only gotten wicked grins in reply.

We're getting some hands-on time with the game this week, and now that our appetite has been appropriately whetted I can't wait to mount up and ride out.

Red Dead Redemption will be released this Spring for Xbox 360 and the PS3. Yee. Haw.

charonis May 11, 2009 12:26 PM	Looks pretty cool. I played Gun on the PSP and enjoyed it a lot. We need more awesome western-themed games. Consider my interest extremely piqued.
hectorbustnuts May 11, 2009 12:32 PM	I can't wait for this. I dug GTAIV (yet to finish it mind you), but THIS is a time period I can get behind. Rockstar are lord of the heap when it comes to open-world games and I can't wait to hold up stage-coaches, derail trains, drink, gamble, make allegiances with the injuns, and escape in a DeLorean.
