Thief 4 announced, gets annoying new name

Thi4f? What the hell is 1337-speak doing in my first person stealth game?!?

It's another good news bad news deal - Thief 4 has been officially announced, but it's getting a stupid name. Really - who thought Thi4f was a good idea?

Anyway, apart from that name there's very little info that's been released about the game. But that's the Twitter-ocracy for you.

For now, it's coming, there's an official (but empty) site, and we're pretty excited despite the silly name.

bnew May 12, 2009 11:33 AM	I really enjoyed the first level or two of the original Thief. And then they started going on about zombies and holy water. What the hell? Wrecked the game for me. I would love a game where I am a professional thief, and each level I have to break into a manor house, a castle or something similar and steal some priceless artwork. Hopefully Thief 4 leaves the zombie crap at the door and is actually a game about being a thief.
charonis May 12, 2009 11:52 AM	Thief 2 has no zombie stuff in it as far as I remember, and it's a far better game because of it. I bought Thief 3 a while ago and am only playing through it now. It's pretty good so far, but a small complaint is that I don't like how it's been console-ised (since it came out on xbox as well). Consider me extremely pumped for Thief 4. I refuse to spell it their bs way. It's just like TR2N. How the hell do you even pronounce this things?!
LordBug May 12, 2009 11:56 AM	Thi4f looks like a word that a mentally handicapped person would dribble down their shirt. Or maybe it was the fat fucker stuffing his face, you should never try to talk with a mouth full.
moofactory May 12, 2009 12:53 PM	I think the whole Thi4f is the fact that if you change letters in between the beginning and the end of a word its still readable. Incorporating 4 into the logo like this still works. This kind of approach to logo design has been done for years.

Nich... May 14, 2009 11:01 AM	I'm pretty sure they're playing on the fact that a 4 looks a bit like a backwards 'e'. Ish. Rather than trying to get leet and cool and hip with the kids, yo'. Thi3f instead of Thief 3 probably would have worked a lot better, tho'.
