New Clone Wars game, new Clone Wars trailer

Video: Clone Wars: Republic Heroes coming to consoles this September.

Remember when the release of a new Star Wars game was cause for some major nerdy excitement? Yeah, we do too. These days, as not only the franchise has become more kiddy friendly and dumbed down, so too have the games. And now Clone Wars: Republic Heroes has come along to keep the trend going.

Republic Heroes is being developed by local lads Krome Studios (who worked on some of the Force Unleashed ports), and features arcade play and graphics based on the Clone Wars TV series.

The game will be released for both Xbox 360 and PS3.

Man... I really miss Kyle Katarn.

I love the new Clone Wars series (some awesome moments in the first season), but this game looks very meh.

Yeah, I miss Kyle too...

Hawkeye: some episodes are a lot better than others. Episode 16 is arguably the best. 1, 4, 8, 9, 10, 19, 20, 21, 22 were also quite good.

LordBug: my name is spelt Ahsoka, not Ashoka.

Also, for those wondering why I can post: forum suspensions don't affect posting ability in other areas of the site :D

There hasn't been a decent game in a while. Gone are the glory days of Rogue Squadron and KOTOR. I didn't mind the Battlegrounds games either. It would be great to see an updated version of these games with next gen graphics.

I did rather enjoy the latest "Clone Wars".

I wanted to hate it...pass it off as a quick dollar-maker off the back of Genndy Tartakovsky animated mini-series of the same name (which I loved).

But I couldn't.

I really dug the design of the characters and world and yes, while there were some clangers, most of the episodes held their own and slot very nicely into the Star Wars universe.

X-Wing for the WIN. Dark Forces ditto.

And Republic Heroes is due out in September :)

Pfft. "TIE Fighter" shits all over your Rebel scum "X-wing". :P

Actually, I used to love "Rebel Assault". I know they were on-rails shooters, but way back when, I used to spend hours playing those two games.

And "Rogue Squadron" was mighty fun too.

No, we need "Dark Forces III".

Oh. I should have known you'd be one of those damned TIE Fighter elitists. All I can say, you Eyeball wrangling nerf herder, is this:

Lrn 2 shield, nub.

Okay, Hector, you may be Imperial trash, but you are right about DFIII.

Hectorbustnuts: Technically speaking Jedi Knight 4 would be Dark Forces 5.

Only "technically", discounting name changes from "Dark Forces" to "Jedi Knight".

"Jedi Knight II" and "Academy" were playable and looked rather good on the Quake engine(er...whichever version engine it was)...but were NEVER as strong as the "Dark Forces" games.

Those games are in their own freakin' league, man.

Totally with Hector on this one - once the series moved away from the Dark Forces name it lost a certain... something. Kyle Katarn was such an interesting hero - ex Imperial agent cum mercenary cum Jedi Knight. Great story progression, excellent gameplay (Dark Forces was fracking GROUNDBREAKING for its day) and Star Wars at its best.

'Twas indeed one of the finest weapons in all Star Wars games ever.
